MyWhoosh keyboard shortcuts

A comprehensive list of all available keyboard shortcuts in MyWhoosh.

The MyWhoosh app has come a long way in terms of functionality and user experience. As virtual cycling grows in popularity, so does the demand for intuitive controls. While some users prefer to rely solely on on-screen buttons, keyboard shortcuts provide quick access to essential features, especially during races and group rides.

This article outlines the currently working keyboard shortcuts in MyWhoosh as of July 2025, including how to use them and what to expect when you press each key. The support for keyboard shortcuts is unfortunately very limited and we're hoping that this list will be extended soon.

Virtual Gear Shifting

If you're riding without a smart trainer or just prefer keyboard control, virtual shifting is available with simple keystrokes:

Key Action
I   Shift Up
K   Shift Down

While it doesn’t replace the tactile feel of real gears, this method ensures you can still enjoy a smooth and responsive ride - even with basic setup. Especially when you are on fixed gear bike or for example Zwift-ride (or zwift cog) trainer.

Emotes and Reactions

Want to wave, cheer, or just show some emotion mid-ride? The numerical row (not the keypad) is your go-to:

Emote
Key Emote Action
1   Peace
2   Wave
3   Fist bump
4   Dab
5   Elbow flick
6   Toast
7   Thumbs up

These emotes are visible to nearby riders and can help express camaraderie or sportsmanship during group events. I personally like to use the Elbow flick when trying to get people to work in a breakaway or Toast to express that I am out of energy and I need to rest for a shortwhile.

Minimal UI Toggle

Sometimes, you just want to enjoy the scenery or take a clean screenshot. The U key toggles the minimal user interface mode:

Key Action
U   Toggle Minimal UI
H   Hides completely all controls (only available in HD version)
Hidden UI Visible UI
Hidden UI Active UI

This is perfect for screenshots, video recording, or simply focusing on the ride without all the data overlays.

Steering Controls

Controlling your avatar's position in the peloton can be a strategic advantage in races. Although MyWhoosh has started introducing smart steering for compatible hardware, keyboard-based steering is already active for all users.

Key Action
←   Steer Left
→   Steer Right

These keys help you maneuver across the road - whether it's for drafting, chasing, or avoiding splits in the group.

Window mode

Those shortcuts below are not specific to MyWhoosh but rather the underlying operating system. Windows and Mac allow you to switch between Full screen and Windowed mode. The default option is Fullscreen, but it can be beneficial in some instances to use Windowed mode, for example, when you want to split screen and watch a movie.

Key Action
F11 on Windows   Toggles between Fullscreen and Windowed mode
CTRL+CMD+F on Mac   Toggles between Fullscreen and Windowed mode

Summary of All Working Shortcuts

Here's a consolidated list of all the currently functioning keyboard shortcuts in MyWhoosh:

Category         Key(s)         Function
Steering         ← →           Left / Right Steering
Emotes           1 - 7         Cheer, Wave, Flex, etc.
UI Toggle         U             Minimal UI Mode
Virtual Shifting I / K         Gear Up / Down
Window/Fullscreen mode F11 (windows) or CTRL+CMD+F (MacOS)         Window mode

Keep your keyboard close, and happy virtual riding! Do you regularly use any of these shortcuts while riding? Do you miss some specific shortcuts? Leave us a comment!

A key command for adjusting % power during a ride would be useful.
Thanks

Could we have an ERG on/off keyboard shortcut.

In interval training you often have 10 seconds sprints that are to short for ERG.

Please allow keyboard shortcuts for Android! (usable to map actions)

Is there a way to use the chat using the keyboard only too?

Thanks for haring these. It would be great to have shortcuts for all the camera views. It's a bit cumbersome to change those with the mouse.

This is a great idea! Please please <3 :)

All UI elements, particularly on the riding screen, should support key bindings. Touchscreens can be difficult to use when sweaty, and navigating with a mouse at 100 rpm is impractical. Since there aren’t that many features, relying on users to request shortcuts individually is inefficient.

Is there any option like "Click v2 Controllers" on Zwift, for gear virtual shifting?

de Phil Sachsenweger posted at 5 Oct 2025, 13:38:33

The "Aero Tuck" button improves aerodynamics on descents? I use MyWoosh on an Android tablet. Where is this feature? Doesn't it make more sense for the avatar (depending on certain conditions) to move into the best aero position on its own?

Choice of the camera/viewpoint via a keyboard shortcut. Also, with the option to save a different camera as default in the settings. e.g. save camera 3/FPV as the default.

It would be great to have support for Zwift Click. Alternatively, the intensity % should be adjustable using keyboard shortcuts.

Would be nice to have keyboard shortcuts for selecting track choices, like when there is a button for selecting going left or going straight. The Steering keys don't work for those.
